Critical Care Registered Nurse - Tampa Bay, FL
Trauma ICU Nurse needed to handle multiple trauma, brain injury, multi system organ failure and complicated surgeries
Equipment commonly used: Spacelabs monitor and EKG, hemodynamic and Intracranial Pressure ( ICP ) monitoring and Lumbar drains, and ventriculastomy
EDUCATION and/or Certifications
Critical Care Course, ACLS, CCRN
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common medical records in english
Background Experience Preferred
- 2 to 3 years experience in Critical care. Must have strong critical thinking and assessment skills. Familiar with trauma, closed head injuries and hemodynamic and intracranial pressure monitoring and ventilator management.

What is the relationship with physicians/residents? Excellent working relationship with ED physicians. Also work closely with trauma surgeons and other attending staff of hospital.
Degree required: BSN preferred
Certifications: ACLS, PALS, TNCC, ENPC, CEN desired
Backgrounds that are preferred: prefer 2-3 yrs Med/Surg or ICU experience

| CVOR Registered Nurse - Tampa Bay, FL
A growing cardiac, Thoracic, vascular and endovascular center. Implementing an Endovascular program in the CVOR.
Case types: All types of adult cardiovascular and thoracic surgery with the exception of heart transplants. Our endovascular program is brand new and we are looking forward to the exciting new technology it brings.
Technology/ Equipment commonly used: We have state of the art new OR's including two oversized CVOR's. We have Stryker integration systems within the OR suites. We use the TMR laser,, Medtronic ablation unit, endovascular vein harvesting, IVUS ultrasound for endovascular cases, Abiomed for heart assist device, Data scope Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump. We are building a new computer OR record using Surginet which is part of the Cerner System.
What is the relationship with physicians/residents? We have a great relationship with our Cardio-Thoracic and Vascular surgeons. We do not use any residents.
Degree required: CVOR scrub and circulating experience preferred. Willing to train if have strong OR experience. BSN preferred.
Certifications: CNOR preferred and encouraged. ACLS is required.
Backgrounds that are preferred: We need team members who have prior CVOR experience. We are willing to train if the candidate has an extensive background in the Operating Room and also has a strong desire to join the CVOR team.
Skills required (these are inherent attributes ie, critical thinking, assessment): Critical thinking skills, Computer skills, Technical skills, Troubleshooting skills, ability to delegate and prioritize and the ability to work under stress.
What is the amount and level of training available for prospective applicants? We offer an individually tailored orientation that would be up to 3 months in length, depending on the individuals prior experience. During that time, the new employee works with a mentor. If learning to scrub open heart cases for the first time, orientation will be a minimum of 6 months.
Describe the orientation process for newly hired RNs? Orientation starts with general hospital and completing computer competencies. Then the Clinical Nurse Specialist in the OR will begin department orientation. The orientee is assigned to a preceptor and orientation to the CVOR will begin in the circulator and 2nd scrub role. Orientation is based on scheduled cases, not necessarily from routine cases working up to more complicated cases. The orienteer is an active participant in their orientation process. They are also responsible for making sure the orientation documentation is filled out daily. A new nurse is expected to participate in the on-call schedule within 6 weeks of hire in certain roles only. Taking call in a 1st scrub role will start after meeting required competencies of the scrub role.

Case types: Pre/post heart caths, Angios, Open heart surgery, CHF, Acute Coronary
Syndrome, Arrhythmia monitoring, Electrophysiology studies, pre/post open heart, etc.
Technology/ Equipment commonly used:
Space Labs Telemetry monitoring, pulse ox, Auto Vital Sign machines.
Certifications preferred: ACLS and CCRN, PCCN or Med Surg Cert. through ANA.
Preferred backgrounds:
2 years of acute care experience; 1 year PCU experience, Critical Care and Telemetry
courses, National Certifications, ACLS.
Scheduling: 12 hour shifts. Requests for time off, which are met 97% of the time, need to be made in advance of the schedule being posted. Once the schedule is out, we ask that changes be made on an equal swap basis. Our nurses are very content with the flexible scheduling process on the unit.

Preferred backgrounds: Strong critical thinking skills. ACLS and BLS certified, at least 2 years experience in ICU/CCU, ability to care for high acuity patients (IABP/ CVVHD). Function independently during code situations. Titrate drip and ability to adjust based on the Homodynamic findings (SWAN). Ability to operate temporary pacemaker and knowledge of the different modes. Interpretation of 12 lead EKG. Will consider 2 years experience with 80% of the above skills.
